A Little Bit Of Christmas History!!!

 

The official Christmas tree tradition at

Rockefeller Center began in 1933

 when the 30 Rockefeller Plaza was first opened.

 

 The unofficial tradition began during
 the Depression-era construction
 of Rockefeller Center,
when workers decorated a small
 20 foot balsam fir tree with

 "strings of cranberries, garlands of paper,
and even a few tin cans"

on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1931! 

 

 By some accounts, 

the tin foil ends of blasting caps

were also used as decorations on the tree!

 

 Even during the Depression,

the Spirit of Christmas was very much alive

 in the hearts of all men!!

I picked out these wonderful images 

 becasue they were so bright and beautiful!

You can't help but get that "Old Christmas Feeling"

when you see the bright colors of Christmas! . 

Why can't we keep the  mystical, magical  feelings

 of  Christmas  through out  the year?

If only we could bottle the wonderous fragrance of Christmas

 with all of the delightful memories, sights and sounds of Christmas Past!

Wouldn't we have a keepsake more precious than gold?

You can make wonderful tags out of these nice images! 

Just add lots of glitter, punch a hole at the top,

add ribbon, tie in a beautiful bow and you have a

 great tag, tree ornament, or something sweet 

 to hang beside the stockings on your mantle! 

I also like to add old vintage buttons,

old vintage paper, and candy to the tags! 

You may use whatever you like to make

 your Vintage Christmas Theme

  a bright and cheerful occasion for everyone!

Now, this was during the time

when the Roman empire ruled Israel,

and Augustus Caesar, the ruler of Rome, 

passed a decree that everyone in

the Roman empire should register for taxes.

Since Joseph was of the house of David,

he and Mary left Nazareth and went to

Bethlehem, the city of David.

Bethlehem was full of people

who traveled there to register;

so much so, that Mary and Joseph

 could find no place to stay the night.

They went to an inn,

but there were no rooms,

and so they stayed the

night in a stable.

 

And during that night in a stable

 in the city of Bethlehem,

the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus,

the Savior of the world,

and she wrapped the newborn King

 in swaddling cloth and

 laid Him in a manger.

You can  use

the lovely images 

for decoration,

tree ornaments,  

tags for persents, 

bookmarkers,

and  stocking stuffers

 

 

***Directions

 

Trace tags on card stock and cut out the image

 you just traced to glue onto the back of the tag. 

 

Get your prettiest Chirstmas paper

 and trace the tag again. 

 

 Cut out the tag you traced and glue it

to the back of the card stock.

 This will cover up your card stock.

 

Punch out a hole at the top of the tag

 and pull a ribbon through, or use

several different colors of ribbons

together for a more festive look!

 

Tie the ribbon in a pretty bow or 

just secure a knot at the top of the tag!.

  Now, get ready to share them

with family and friends! 

 

***You may also decorate the tags with ribbon, lace,

sequins, buttons, beads, and glitter!  

 Let your imagination soar!
